Finding the perfect venue for a graduation party in Ft. Lauderdale should be easy – but it is not always straightforward. There are a lot of potential venues out there for parties, but locating the one that exactly suits your needs can be a challenge.
Firstly, it helps if you define what sort of graduation party you are going to have. Whether it is for a birthday, anniversary, wedding or any other type of event, you have to decide on the size (the number of people) and the facilities you will require.
Food and Catering at Graduation Party Venues
One of the first decisions will be food and catering. The cheapest option is generally bringing in food yourself, but not all venues will allow this. Additionally, catering for 100 people can be a major challenge in itself, and will likely require several days’ preparation, as well as a lot of work on the day itself.
Outside caterers are another option, but again, not all venues will allow them. They vary from fairly simple buffet deliveries to full catering services for venues without their own dedicated facilities.
Lastly, many graduation party venues, especially hotels, have their own catering facilities that can handle anything from a finger buffet through to a 5 course sit-down meal. This is often the most expensive option, but also tends to be the best in terms of food and service quality.
Some venues will also allow you to have use of a commercial kitchen, either for yourself or a catering team. This can be a great option if you have very specific dining needs, or a way to keep costs down but still offer a full dining service. Do check what they mean by kitchen in advance – so include only enough facilities to make hot drinks.
Entertainment at Your Graduation Party
This is a little easier, but most bands and entertainers will need to know what kind of sound system facilities are available. Some, such as bands and mobile discos, generally bring all their equipment with them, while others, such as comedians, will require a sound system to be present or hired.
Be aware of any restrictions on the venue: some are not allowed music after a certain time, or may even have volume sensors that cut the power to the sound system if it gets too loud. If you plan on having an event going on late with music, check with the venue before booking.
Lastly, if you are booking a live band, a graduation party venue with a stage is much better – it gives a fixed area for the band to set up out of the way of the guests, and they often include some lighting facilities and power for the instruments.
The Graduation Party Venue Facilities
You will also need to consider the actual facilities at the venue. For wedding receptions, you may well need a room for the bride and groom to get changed. If your guests are travelling some distance, it makes sense to have rooms either in the same building or very nearby. You may need tables, chairs or other furniture available to you. Some venues will have staff on-site for greeting and serving guests, while other may require you to hire them in yourself.
